Day 5:
In the
morning, we had a quick breakfast, as we had to set off to San Francisco at 9:30
am. We were all exhausted. We slept on the bus. On the way to San Francisco, we
find spectacular scenery, one by one, people started to wake up and took photos
of San Francisco.
When we arrived at our destination, everyone
was overwhelmed with excitement. We hopped on a tour bus and enjoyed the beauty
of San Francisco for 3 hours. The tour guide Paul introduced the history of San
Francisco as we lingered on the streets on San Francisco, which was surprisingly
built on mostly man-made land after suffering from serious earthquakes and
wars. We were also very shocked to learn that San Francisco has the highest
housing rent out of all of America! We were very excited to finally go to the
world renowned Golden Gate Bridge. Although it was very foggy, it was still magnificent.
The tour bus dropped us off at a spot to take pictures with the incredible scenery,
then we continued on our journey back to the heart of San Francisco. We
travelled downtown and uptown, gazed at glorious Victorian houses, breathed the
fresh air in Golden Gate Park. It was also really interesting to learn about
the birth of hippies in San Francisco and the fortune cookies. The most exciting
part of this bus trip was definitely when we went down hill, it was like riding
a roller coaster, how exhilarating! Looking down onto the steep hills of San
Francisco, we finally reached the coastline and stopped by the pier. The bus
dropped us off at Pier 39 so that we could have some free time to do some
shopping and photo taking.
We first headed off to
the seaside where we first inhaled the crisp sea salt air. We caught a glimpse
of the serene sea embedded with a cluster of yatches. After snapping several
pictures with them, we explored about the nearby streets and were welcomed with
a wide array of shops showcasing a farrago of products ranging from clothing, food,
quirky magic products and signature key chains. We managed to purchase a
handful of key chains at a souvenir shop and chocolates at the legendary
chocolate heaven- Ghirardelli! Immediately we bought a Jumbo Dark Chocolate
Haystack and Red Velvet fudge. It was indeed lip-smacking! Unfortunately time
was tight and we could not visit more stores. We wish we could hit this place
again someday!
