Group 10 6th of July, 2016

Today is the first at Stanford. In the morning, we attended a neuroscience class. It was our first time to be introduced to this specific field in Biology to study the brains and nervous systems of organisms. We saw transparent brains and we find that very amusing. The class was very interactive, we not only learned how the neutrons work by playing games such as the two point discrimination task, we had also looked at a real cleaned sample of mice brain. Our lecturer also pointed out that neurons is not only the only thing in the nervous system and reminded us not to forget the cell structure and environment.

In the afternoon, we took a Math class. It was not the Math that we usually learn at school like solving problems mathematically with pen and paper, instead, it was about dynamic and static game theory. We played a game about prisoners’ dilemma.  We learned through actually playing the games and exploring the theories by ourselves. With multiple trials, we slowly grasped the theory and manage to use the theory to try to win the game. It was indeed very fun and amusing.

Then, we got a chance to visit the Stanford bookstore and bought some souvenirs such as Stanford t-shirts and cups etc. We had a great time!  We also had lots of personal time to play games in the common room, we bonded quickly and our friendship has definitely strengthened just within three days.
