Group 3
Eunice Cho, Sabrina Lee, Eunice Lee, Stephanie Liang
Today we attended a legal studies lesson after breakfast which involved a mock trial. The lesson was absolutely amazing as we could actually experience an actual court trial which involved many legal jargon. The lesson enabled us to learn about the law and the procedures of legal studies in America. The legal lesson helped us in our further studies and the future career choice as lawyer or legal related fields. This legal studies seriously introduced us to the fun of being a lawyer and the fun of legal studies which one felt like a boring subject, it provided us an amazing point of view of what legal studies can actually provided. There were some characters that we need to portray in the mock trial, which have characters such as attorney for direct and cross examination and the witnesses. All the characters we portrayed taught us that we should be confident when we speak and it boosted our public speaking skills and questioning skills. Different witnesses were brought up to the judges and they are being questioned with different side attorneys and it was able to test our skills in facing different situations without any preparations The witness was also an exceptionally great character to portray in a court room as a witness can show a lot of emotions and create sympathy of the judges which was a fairly useful tool in a case. Acting as an attorney is also tough as attorney for cross examination can create huge amount of tensions in the court room and it was the actual part which is able to proof someone guilty or innocent. Fun was never the word used to describe law, but after today, we can actually know why someone is interested in law as it provided a lot of excitement. The mock trial was very interesting as we were never exposed to these kinds of experience and it was a brand new procedure to us. Legal studies is a new subject that we might consider to take through this lessons and now we can have more choice of career and become more diverse through the day.

Our second lesson today was Design-thinking mindsets: daring
greatly. This lesson strengthened our creativity and we played a lot of games
in this lesson. Firstly, we played a game that pretend something with our
partner, examples are like fries and hamburger, the four season and iPhone,
this was challenging, however, through this game, we noticed about the
importance of team spirit and Cooperation, the more we gathered our ideas, the
more success we are. It is used to warm up our brains as to be more open to
creative skills and creative mind set. The creative mind set is something which
can be really great for our future as their motto is fail fast, fail forwards,
which is the way we should perceive things and they are able to teach us the
way that failure is a must and we should accept failure and modify the things
in our failure instead pf being sad or gave up upon failure. Secondly, we played
a game that we need trade a red paper clip to others in the compass to bring
other things back. Our group did a good job as we did trade a lot of times and
a lot of different stuff. We understood the importance of clear communication
and strategy of playing games. This lesson explain to us the importance of having creativity in this modern day world and the mindsets were able to help us in coming up different ways to treat the same problem, which is absolutely useful for any problem we might face in exams or in real life.We look forward to attend next lesson in the
future.
We also went to the Stanford shopping center which includes
some America shops such as Chipotle, Bath and Body Work, and See’s Candies. All
the shops were amazing and we have lots of fun shopping and strolling through
the street. There were also some special thing in shops such as Mcdonalds which
tasted a lot better and all the burger and fries are a lot bigger and tastier
than what we have in Hong Kong and we were absolutely delighted. The Chipotle have
something called guacamole and it tasted amazing.
