Group 6 13/7/2016

13/7/2016
After having breakfast, we had Visual Thinking Art class.  The teacher is good at drawing.  He can draw very beautiful things in just 1 minute and it looked very real.  He taught us how to draw a cube.  We found out that the cube that we drew during Mathematics lesson is wrong and not done in an artistic way.  We should use one point perspective to draw it.  We practiced again and again.  Then, he asked us to draw Coca Cola.  It was very difficult.  When we drew one side, the other side is not symmetrical with the other side.  Therefore, we used a lot of time to do so.  The teacher asked us to draw a story about animals.  Our group was separated.  Two of us were going to draw a whale.  And the other two were going to draw penguins.  It was fun and interesting.
After lunch, we went on a field trip.  We went to the History Museum.  There were many things, such as old calculators and printers.  It told us how they were developed.  Some maths were calculated with movable markers in the old days.  Movable markers is used to represent different numbers, an abacus uses the position of markers on a grid, which is similar to the ‘one column’ or ‘tens column’ of written numbers.  Users do arithmetic by moving the markers to different positions according to simple rules.  Also, the staff told us a story about how a teapot helped animation production companies to create a sketch to improve their graphics. It was very interesting as the shapes were simple and good for scanning the object. Later on, we went to ride on the Google self-driving car and try out their project. They rely on their sensors and software to drive itself by just pushing a button and it would take us where we want to go. We find it very interesting and we hope it will be able to release to the market one day. Moving on, we saw a large screen of Google Earth. Using the cursor, we could control the content on the screen. The screen was showing California, and we tried very hard to get to Hong Kong at last, and we even found our school as well! The resolution of the map was really high and we enjoy playing it a lot. Later on, we went to the souvenirs shop and Mr. Wong bought us astronaut ice-cream sandwich, it was a bit strange but it tastes good.

After dinner, we went out for a fire-pit night and we ate a lot of s’mores. They were tasty and we all had a great time there.
