Group 5 (15/7/2016)

Blog 10 (15/7/2016)

We walked to the Stanford Education Building with heavy hearts. Today was the last day of our lectures, and we tried our best to hold back our sentimental tears.
Our last lesson in the short 2 weeks was Non-verbal Communication. This lesson prepared us for the upcoming final presentation and speeches, and we learnt to use different gestures, expressions, tones and volumes to gain our audiences’ attention. Our ludicrous lecturer, who gave us the proper, effective tips on presenting confidently, was a perfect example of entertainment brilliance, hooking us in with his delightful speaking skills.  And with that, our list of courses ended on a sweet note, and we left the Education Building in lingering bliss.
Disclaimer: the following events brought tears to 3 of our group mates’ eyes, some sobbing harder than others, whereas the remaining 2 were cold-hearted -.-
In yesterday’s blog, we promised to tell you what our idea was, and of course, we will fulfill it. All of us agreed that the mock trial was our favorite course, so we chose to act one out by implementing the skills from Monday’s lesson, but with a new case: Maisy Lai was caught outside her room at 2am, and she claims to be going to the bathroom. The audience, acting as the judge and jurors, must decide after the trial whether she should be found guilty or not.
It’s genius, we know.
All groups gave superb delivery about their favorite moments. We were called out one by one to get our certificates, then followed by our head counselor Tyler giving a concluding speech, the tears came flooding out like the Red Sea. We wanted to stay in the green, grassy fields of Stanford forever until the end, and the nostalgia was overwhelming. We will cherish these fruitful memories for the rest of our lives.
We finally got to let loose and be free in an unexpected water balloon fight. At least, it started off with water balloons. Things escalated quickly when people started getting cups of water, chasing after an ideally chosen, unsuspecting victim with dripping hair and evil cackles. Even though we are still shivering while typing this blog, it was definitely worth it.

We loved each and every moment – the good, the bad and the weird.
