Group 5 (12/7/2016)

Blog 7 (12/7/2016)

Hi! Once again, we are group 5. It was another sunny, beautiful day in Palo Alto. Today, the dining hall was exceptionally crowded and we felt immensely frustrated queuing up. After what seemed like forever, we got in and found out all tables were fully occupied, and we eventually ended up sitting on the sofa without a table. #Sadlife
As we were walking towards the classroom that held the Visual Design Thinking class, we were welcomed by a gorgeously drawn poster next to the door.  The professor overflowed with artistic sense and talent, finishing a drawing in just a blink of an eye. It was impressive. We gained understanding on perspective, and some of us realized that art is actually not as complicated as we had thought. Others just don’t have talent in art at all. We had activities such as exercising our imagination and creativity to make up a story, then presenting it with diverse graphics.
After what seemed like a never-ending class, we started our journey on another campus tour. At first, we headed to the Cantor Arts Centre with high expectations, but unfortunately it turned out to be closed. Perhaps one day, we can have the opportunity to revisit it. In just one split second, we regained our hope and saw the bright light at the end of the tunnel. J
We learnt that we could gain from loss, as we got to visit the Stanford Medical School and the Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine instead. Though none of us were really interested in science subjects, we were still in awe of the hard work that the scientists were putting in to benefit society.
Then, the fun part came. We actually went up the famous Hoover Tower, and enjoyed the wonder that is the Stanford campus. Our disappointment in the Cantor Arts Centre faded, with our hope and confidence in life gradually growing. Though wires and fences blocked our view, we still got to take heaps of interesting photographs.

Though we were originally going to have a fire pit night, it was rescheduled to another night. We were reallyyyyyyy looking forward to S’mores and warmth, which will have to wait till tomorrow. However, we were able to use the time to play dodge ball with our favourite people! Yay!
