Day 4
This is
our fourth day in Stanford and again we kicked off our day with a big breakfast
at the dining hall. A bee interrupted our meal and we all were so afraid,
screaming and running around, just to escape from the bee. Then we went for
decision making lesson. We started the lesson with games about decision making and
learnt principles about how we should make decisions. One of the highlights of
the lesson was a video about a group of teens solving problems during the trip
to Nepal. The SMART principle and the tree diagram were two of which we find
the most useful when making decisions in daily life. We had a really fun and
inspiring two and a half hour lesson there. Afterwards we went for lunch at the
dining hall, salad, pasta, ice cream, puff and many more filled our stomach.
They were all so delicious! We then went for creative writing lesson back at
the classroom. Here, we first played the game Bingo and started lesson about
rhetoric. We learnt to persuade others using ways such as ethos, pathos and logos,
which were the credibility of the speaker, emotion and logic. We found these
ways so inspiring and useful in daily life. We then looked at advertisements of
magazines and see how big companies apply different ways of rhetoric. We
continued our lesson with advertisement design about future technologies. We
had so much fun throughout the lesson.
The
climax of the day was the scavenger hunt. We ran crazily around the campus and
took pictures according to the assigned tasks in order to gain points. We went
to places such as the oval, where we laid on the soft grass and spelt the work
H.K with our bodies. We also had to take a picture with an engineering student
which taught us to be more outspoken and confident as we had to ask strangers
along the street. Moreover, we sang “side angle side” together in front of
Meyer Green. We had a lot of fun and at
the same time became more familiar with the buildings in the campus. Although
we are exhausted after the hunt, we all agree that it was definitely an unforgettable
experience here in Stanford!
We are
going to San Francisco and Monterey this weekend. We really look forward to
visiting the aquarium as well as taking the double deck bus to admire the
stunning view of San Francisco. We believe we would have a wonderful time
there.
