Group 8

Day 5
It was our first weekend in Stanford University and we had a field trip. We went to San Francisco and had a great day. After one and a half hour of travel time in the coach, we finally arrived at the flourishing and bustling city. We boarded the double decked bus and had our lunch. Some of us had the turkey sandwiches while the others had Caesar wraps. Our lunch also included fruit and chips. We all enjoyed the meal.
The tour guide was hilarious. He introduced the history and formation of San Francisco. Most of the buildings there were of Victorian style. They were also very colorful with walls of yellow, blue, pink and so on.  San Francisco once experienced earthquake and fire in 1906 but some buildings remain steady till now. We were amazed by these buildings as they stood firm for more than 110 years.  The Golden Gate Park was one of the main attractions too. The green pastures there are most suitable for picnic and we are longing for a chance in the near future. The funniest thing of the park is that the statues were hidden behind the bushes in the old days and took decades for people discover all of them.
Our final spot is Pier 39 where we had our own free time. We visited the adorable sea lions and took many photos along the coast. We tried oreo churros and the corn dog. They were scrumptious! The most unforgettable yet scary experience was that when one of us was enjoying the corn dog, a seagull flew pass and took away the corn dog. We were shocked and astonished.
There were numerous souvenir shops along the street. We were impressed by the shop called “Lefty” which sells products that are specially designed for left-handed people. We found notebooks, pens and rulers. We were piqued by the left-handed cup as there is a hole on one side which made the drink spill out when using it with a right hand.  We all brought a packet of chocolate as souvenirs at last.

When we got back to the dormitory, we realized that many of us were sun burnt! We immediately applied aloe vera on the affected area. Hopefully, we will get better tomorrow!
