5th July
We finally arrived at San Francisco after a 13 hour flight without any TV. We were all really exhausted but excited about our journey. The campus was really big and beautiful. We visited the church and the different fountains in Stanford campus. We all liked the campus a lot and we enjoyed the campus tour. Throughout this tour, we took in the spectacular views of the Stanford campus and learnt more about the history of Stanford.
6th July
We started the lectures today, and we had lectures on anthropology and creative writing. We all agreed that anthropology was a very interesting topic about social science and that we should raise questions about questions about society and the things around us. We also learnt that raising questions about society is beneficial as we can understand our own cultures and what we perceive as normality in society, learning about the cultures of America through another perspective and knowing that what we consider as normal may not be as normal as we think. After attending this lecture, we understood more about society and the diversity of different cultures around us, including the ones we usually perceive as weird or abnormal. We can now know how to look a single event in the society without bias, and have our own judgment.
In conclusion, we thought that these lessons really helped boost creativity and our learning skills, and we all agreed that these lessons were a great experience for us overall.
We also learnt about creative non-fiction writing and about persuading people through advertising and the media. We understood the basic concepts of persuasion through the media like ethros and logos which stand for credibility and logic. We found these facts applicable to our daily lives, understanding more about rhetoric and the methods of an effective rhetoric. We will try to apply these methods to our daily lives more as well to enhance our learning. Creative non-fiction made us open our minds about persuasive techniques and the effectiveness good persuasion does to a person’s mind. We learnt this effectively through analyzing different advertisements and understanding their own way of persuasion-persuading people to purchase different products or enjoying different kinds of services. By analyzing the advertisements, we understood more about the effectiveness of a good persuasion through the use of the media and slogans
Through effective rhetoric and the methods of an effective rhetoric, we gained in depth about the method of rhetoric and persuasion through words.

We thought that these lectures really helped boost our creativity and made us question more about the normal activities we do and to understand different points of view of different cultures and why they do what they normally do.
