GROUP 7
The day began with a rousing trip to the dining hall for a
scrumptious breakfast, which was then followed by a class in blogging by Ms.
Nada. We were first introduced to the history of media and how information can
be transferred. The key sentence that we learnt in today’s course was that the
media is just as important as the message. Keeping this in mind, we practiced
making our own blogs, spreading our ideas and unique thoughts to others using
the art of communication.
Next up was the lovely stroll towards the Cantor Art Centre, where
we could view and appreciate the eerily lifelike sculptures of Auguste Rodin,
which include the infamous Gates of Hell, The Thinker and The Age of Bronze.
The work and dedication of the Stanfords in creating this leading institute was
also marvelled at as we toured through the museum. Although their son’s, Leland
Stanford Jr., untimely death was a tragic blow to the couple, it inspired them
to devote all their time and effort into developing the university as we know
it today. For that, we can’t help but respect them a great deal more for their
raw commitment and perseverance; Without them, we wouldn’t be able to visit the
beautiful grounds of Stanford.
Gazing down at the spectacular view from the Hoover Tower, we made
sure to capture this alluring sight with tons of photographs. We were blown
away by the sheer size of the campus and took our time in admiring the
picturesque scene (holding up the line for about 20 minutes, in fact!).
The evening drew to a close as we were treated to an artistic
experience of henna tattoos, coating our skin with pretty patterns. In
addition, the dye is non damaging and non permanent, fading away after a week
or two. Everyone enjoyed it very much, albeit putting a little pressure on the
artists of the group!
