Today is the forth day of the Stanford tour which is also
an amusing and mind-blowing day.
We attended the Mathematical Explorations class taught by Mr Zheungyuan Zhou. This teacher was humorous that we enjoyed the lesson so much. We learnt about the static games as known as one-shot games and also dynamic games. This made us become more interested in maths. By repeating the game for several times, we could discover more strategies of these mathematic games. Moreover, from the game ‘Prisoner dilemma’, we learnt that we cannot determine the outcome only by choosing the least number of years or the possibility. We should think more about the situation and decision of both prisoners so that we can make a better decision. This taught us that different decisions would lead to different outcomes. For the second lesson, Decision Quality: Better Decision - Better Lives, we learnt how to make the right decisions according to our wills and feelings by using The Elements of a Good Decision. This included Clear Values, Creative Alternatives, Useful Information, Helpful Frame, Commitment to follow through and Sound Reasoning. The conclusion sheet laid out the effective process on decision making. For example, likes define an appropriate frame, identify the weakest links and a good decision makes sense and feels right. The information and advices given to us were really useful that really helped a lot on our decision making and we enjoyed the lesson a lot. This made us think out of the box and count the probability of success of different options.
We also played the
scavenger hunt which is planned by the counselors today. We tried to walk
around the campus in other routes to find destinations to take pictures. We
saw lots of different fountains, buildings, grasslands and shops which we
haven’t seen before. We took many beautiful pictures and video in front of
different buildings and places in order to finish the tasks that have been
written on the list and to win this game. We also played water in one of the
fountains that we have passed through. Although the water was very cold, we
had a lot of fun while playing. We enjoyed playing this game. We found out
the importance of the team spirit and cooperation throughout this scavenger
hunt. Our relationships become closer and had a lot of fun. We hope to play
this game together again in the future.

In conclusion, the activities that we participated
today were fascinating and interesting. We could not stop discussing these
activities during dinner and our favorite activity was the scavenger hunt, we
had lots of fun throughout the game and we are looking forward for the next
hunt.

Us concentrating in the Math lessons, eager to learn about the gaming theory.
Eunice in our group was selected to make decisions for our group.
These is the presentation material we drew for the decision making lesson.
