Lecture 1-Neuroscience:
We learnt about
neuroscience today. We found out that neuroscience was actually about the
functions of the brain, and how the brain helps us to adapt to our
surroundings. We also learnt about the methods of studying the brain, which
includes both invasion and non invasion of the body. We discussed about
different studies and methods to explore the various parts of the brain, and
learnt more about how different parts of the brain help to control the body,
and that the brain is actually something really important out of all parts of
our body.
Reflection on the lecture of neuroscience:
We felt that the lecture
was really interesting. Our teacher was really nice and throughout the lecture,
she kept telling us stories about neuroscience and to keep us all going and
interested with this topic, and we agreed that this was a very good way to keep
us all learning with full attention and concentration. We all thought that the
teacher taught us really well on the subject of neuroscience and actually
helped us to get into the depth of neuroscience, building an interest to that
particular subject. We all thought that we got a lot out of this topic and we
really hope to have further chances on expanding this topic.
Lecture 2- Blogging and the media:
After
lunch we had media and storytelling for our second lesson of the day. First, we
learnt about the history of story, which was originated
from five thousand years ago! It really shocked us to know that ancient people
had the knowledge to draw cartoons and different pictures on cave walls to show
the life at those times. This clearly showed how our ancestors developed writing
for the past years. As we hadn’t learnt these in the school’s history lesson,
we can familiarize ourselves with the Western history and we all listened
attentively and appreciated the teachings of the teacher. After that, we learnt
how to create a blog and decorate pictures by using ‘Canva’. We could share
everything including our thoughts of our journey in Stanford or even using our
imaginations and write a story!
Reflection on Blogging and creative media:
We felt that this
creative media and blogging lesson was really fascinating and we learnt a good
lot from this lesson. We understood more about the history of blogging and the
uses of blogging, which helped us improve our writing skills and our methods of
writing. We also learnt about empathy through media and the emotions radiated
through the uses of media, creating an emotional impact on all of us, making us
understand more about how the media affects our emotions and our feelings. We would
apply the knowledge we learnt today of
how to write blogs in our daily life, for example, we could try blogging
ourselves and write about our other trips to other places. This would greatly
improve our writing and our creativity, and would also improve our art sense as
we also had to edit photos in the web ‘Canvas’. We all thought that this
activity was really innovative and helped a lot with boosting our writing
skills, media skills, and our creativity overall.
